It's Time to Let Go
I sat down with four POWERFUL women yesterday and we were in "DIALOGUE" about the power of letting go, healing, and freedom. What I found interesting about this session of "DIALOGUE" was how each one of us defined letting go differently.
After the session of "DIALOGUE" I went home and I began to really do a self analysis of my life so far this year. I'm truly thankful to God that I'm now 52 days FREE from the stronghold of marijuana. I've taken authority over how I use social media and stopped allowing it to be a way for me to compare myself to others. I've also started working out on a daily basis and it feels GREAT.
To some of you that may not mean anything at all, but if you read my last blog post, The Gods in My Life: People, Food and Marijuana, you would completely understand why LETTING GO is extremely powerful. My decision to let go of self comparison, tempory highs, depression, insecurities, and lack of what I call Godfidence, all started with my MINDSET.
Most people think LETTING GO has to be something physical. The reality is most of us never experience change because we refuse to LET GO of what we have formed in our minds. For the longest time, I believed the lie of not being able to hear from God unless I was high. I believed I would never get married because I never saw real LOVE between a husband and wife due to growing up in broken home. I believed I could not be successful without having the right connections or having a certain number of degrees. I believed I could not do a photo shoot until I lost weight because all of the other women who have ministries are in shape. I believed my ministry would not be successful because I'm not married at the moment and everyone FOLLOWS those who are married or discussing their relationships...... BUT where did ALL these LIES come from? Everything I had formed in my mind.
It took some serious dedication to transform and renew my mind, but trust and believe it is worth it to just take the step of LETTING GO of everything that held me back from the promises of God. I love the amplified translation this verse:
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Are you comfortable with your old way of thinking? Are you choosing to remain right where you are because you've become to LAZY to renew your mindset? This was me. I chose to remain complacent rather than use my mind to its FULL CAPACITY and begin a RENEWAL PROCESS. This takes work and a lazy mind will forever hold on to lies if you don't train it to LET GO.
I want you to make up in your mind to LET GO of those LIES and join me on a journey to FREEDOM. The only way to true freedom starts with LETTING GO and RENEWING YOUR MIND.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:18-19
